Key Points Historical Context:  The hike follows a marginal increase in the interest rate in March 2023 to 8.15% for the fiscal year 2022-23, compared to 8.10% in 2021-22. However, in March 2022, the interest rate was reduced to 8.1%, the lowest in over four decades, down from 8.5% in 2020-21.
